Help! I’m trying to log in but it says I already have an account. How do I access my user name and password?
If you have a Crain’s account, your user name and password should be the same ones that you use to log onto chicagobusiness.com. Those who are not registered at chicagobusiness.com will need to create new accounts.

Who's eligible?

Anyone working in the Chicago area who will be 29 or younger as of May 14, 2018.

What are the criteria?

We look for a cross-section of up-and-comers from the wide range of industries we cover—technology, real estate, health care, finance, etc.—who have accomplished something notable in the past year. That could be starting a business that has soared to profitability, or quickly rising the ranks of an established company and taking on responsibilities unusual for someone so young. For someone in the legal field, it could be arguing a major court case, or, in research, leading a big breakthrough. Nominations should clearly detail specific accomplishments. We also give special consideration to activities outside of professional responsibilities, such as philanthropic involvement and side businesses.

How do I nominate someone?

Simply fill out the online form. Be sure to note the nominee's date of birth.

Is there a fee?

Yes. It costs $99 to nominate someone for consideration.

What's the deadline for nominations?

Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2018, at 11:59 p.m. No nominations will be accepted after this date.

Do multiple nominations give candidates an edge?

No. What's more, multiple nominations are actively discouraged.

Who decides who will be in 20 In Their 20s?

A panel of Crain's editors and reporters.

How does the process work?

After we receive a nomination, reporters vet the candidates and submit lists to the editors. The editors then hold a series of meetings to determine which candidates will be chosen, usually from among hundreds of applicants. We strive to come up with a diverse list that represents a broad spectrum of the industries we cover. The process takes three months.

Will I be informed if my nominee was NOT selected?

No. Only selected nominees will be informed in advance of publication of our annual 20 In Their 20s issue.

When will honorees be notified?

Before March 15, 2018.

When does the section appear in print?

May 14, 2018.

If I have not heard from Crain's by March 15, does that mean my nominee was not selected?

Yes, that would be a fair assumption.

Can I fax or mail in my nomination?

No. Only submissions that come to us via the online form below will be accepted.

Can I call you to make sure my nomination went through?

The nomination platform will confirm receipt of a completed submission. Please resist the urge to make follow-up calls or send emails.

I want to nominate someone, but can I remain anonymous?

No, we need to know who you are, though we do not share this information with any third parties

What should honorees expect?

Everyone featured in the section will be interviewed and photographed by Crain's. Refusal to be interviewed or photographed will result in disqualification.
